These are some personal observations on Weight Training, and some quick suggestions on how to improve your results.

Firstly, any weight loss program worth ANYTHING involves weight training. If you are not weight training in some way, you are selling yourself short. And if your goal isn’t weight loss but muscle gain, well I hope the need for weight training is obvious in this case 

Alright, on to the observations

I like to break weight training down into two core parts – Getting strong on some basic lifts, and then putting in the work.

Now, ‘Getting strong’ doesn’t mean you need to be a powerlifter crushing world records or an olympic gymnast doing mind-blowing feats of strength… you just need to get stronger then you were a month or two ago.

And though I do not think the relationship between strength and muscle mass is as linear as people would like to believe, there really does seem to be an elevated baseline of strength needed in order to truly reap the benefits of working out, but to reap those rewards you also need to ‘put in the work’.

‘Putting in the work’ simply means spending time challenging your muscles with sub-maximal work.

So time spent challenging the muscles with heavy weights in order to become stronger, and time spent challenging the muscles with sub-maximal weights in order build up their capacity to adapt to challenge.

My very general observations have been that when men are having problems getting the results they want from their workouts, there tends to be an overemphasis on getting strong, at the expense of time spent ‘putting in the work’.

For women I have found the opposite to be true. When Woman are having a hard time getting the results they want, there is a lot of time spent ‘putting in the work’ but not enough ‘getting strong on some basic lifts’.

To sum up, as a quick suggestion – If you are not seeing the results from your workouts that you would like, or that you expect, look to see if you are making either of these mistakes.

I don’t have fancy charts or graphs to tell you how strong you should be or how much work you  need to do, but I can say that if you have been weight training consistently then you should be getting stronger, and your ability to do work (work capacity) should be increasing. If this isn’t happening it may be time to change your workout program.

El post-flop

El flop

Tan pronto como llega el momento del flop, lo mejor que puedes hacer es evaluar tu mano.

Piensa que combinaciones puedes hacer con las cartas que tienes y las que están en la mesa y reflexiona sobre las posibilidades que tendría cada una de las manos para ganar.

Recuerda que el objetivo es conseguir una pareja de gran valor o bien conseguir alguna combinación que tenga suficientes posibilidades como para ganar.

Si tienes una pareja de poco valor y una apuesta bastante elevada, lo mejor es que abandones la partida. Si, por el contrario, tienes una buena pareja y un buen kicker, sigue jugando sin ninguna duda.

Para conocer las mil estrategias que se pueden desarrollar en el flop, hay capítulos enteros en infinidad de libros, por lo que aquí vamos a mantener las cosas en la misma línea que hasta ahora: la sencillez.

Ten en cuenta cómo se ha desarrollado la mano y recuerda: una pareja alta es una buena mano pero si mucha gente está apostando puede ser que la pareja no sea lo suficientemente buena para ganar.

Si tienes unas cartas mucho más superiores, intenta sacar el máximo beneficio posible para así obtener una cierta recompensa por el dinero que has perdido en manos en las que no ha merecido la pena jugar.

Una pequeña nota si tienes una jugada

Tener una jugada con posibilidades de hacer una escalera o un color con la próxima carta que se ponga en juego puede ser una mano muy buena, ya que te puede dar muchas opciones de ganar el enfrentamiento contra tus adversarios.

Pero no todas las jugadas son iguales. Por ejemplo, si tienes un 5♦ 6♦ en un flop de 7♥ 3♥ A♦ sólo te puede salir bien la jugada si sale un cuatro.

En este caso la mano sería bastante débil porque a alguien más le puede cuadrar el cuatro para hacer, por ejemplo, un color.

Cuando necesitas justo la carta del medio para hacer una escalera la jugada se conoce con el nombre de “gutshot”. La mejor jugada para conseguir una escalera, y por lo tanto mejor que un gutshot,  es la conocida como “open-ender”.

Las jugadas en las que puedes conseguir un color son también bastante fuertes como apostar por ellas.

El turn

Por norma general, cuando llega el momento del turn, sólo quedan en la partida dos o tres jugadores.  Por ello, si un jugador ha llegado al turn es porque tiene una combinación de cartas con bastantes posibilidades de ganar.

Si eres el primero que apuesta en la mano y el turn no cambia para nada tu situación, el consejo es que sigas apostando.

Si la carta que se muestra en el turn es la que a ti te conviene para completar, por ejemplo, tu escalera, tienes que actuar con cuidado para conseguir llevarte la victoria.

El river

Llegar hasta el river es sinónimo, en la mayoría de las ocasiones, de heads-up. Es ahora cuando tienes que utilizar toda la información que tu adversario te ha ido “desvelando” durante la partida para conseguir tomar la decisión más adecuada entre apostar o no apostar.

Cada paso y cada pequeño gesto que el otro jugador ha ido haciendo a lo largo de la partida te permiten conocer un poco más sobre la mano con la que está jugando, por lo que tienes que tener los cinco sentidos alerta desde el principio del juego.

Si sube la apuesta antes del flop, en el flop, en el turn y también ahora es que tiene unas cartas muy buenas.

Pero si apuesta antes del flop, aumenta la apuesta que tú has realizado en el flop, controla el turn y vuelve a controlar el river, es reflejo de que sus cartas no son tan buenas.

En esta ocasión, de nuevo, hay miles de variables que pueden afectar a la situación y que son casi imposibles de controlar.

Por ello lo mejor es pensar de forma crítica e intentar adivinar de la forma más objetiva posible qué mano es la que tiene tu adversario para poder actuar en consecuencia.

Posición en la mesa

La posición en la mesa es uno de los factores más determinantes del Texas Hold’em porque dependiendo de la posición que tengas respecto al crupier serás el primero el último en apostar.

Si te encuentras a la cola, tienes la ventaja de que vas a manejar más información porque vas a poder ver si tu oponente mantiene la apuesta, la aumenta o abandona la partida.

De esta forma puedes observar cómo actúa cada uno de los jugadores antes de que decidas qué es lo que vas a hacer tú.

Nadie puede ver la siguiente carta ni se puede hacer nada más en la mesa de juego hasta que tú decides cuál es tu jugada, por lo que tienes el control de la partida.

Esta es la ventaja de tener una buena posición en la mesa.

El póker es un juego a largo plazo

Aunque el póker es un juego que te puede dar beneficios muy sustanciales en el largo plazo, sigue siendo un juego basado en apuestas en el que te puedes arruinar.

Y es que tomas decisiones que puedes considerar rentables pero que después, como consecuencia de que las cartas se reparten completamente al azar, se acaban convirtiendo en decisiones para nada rentables y que te hacen perder dinero.

Por eso la suerte también tiene un gran protagonismo en el póker y, en el fondo, es la que hace que aumente el interés por lo que pueda pasar en cada partida.

Pero también es la que hace que el juego acabe siendo frustrante.

Puedes tomar la decisión más acertada y la más correcta en todas las partidas de póker que juegues y, aún así, perder.

Al igual que puedes ver a algún torpe sentado a la mesa de juego al que la suerte le sonría y se lleve a casa todo el dinero que tú has perdido.

Ésta es la naturaleza del póker.

Pero no te desanimes, intenta tomar la decisión más adecuada en cada momento y, si siempre juegas como debes, con el tiempo el póker será un juego rentable y tú un jugador profesional.

Por último (pero no lo menos importante), recuerda una regla básica: Diviértete. Al fin y al cabo, el póker es un juego de cartas.

The Truth About The ZCode System..

I was down to my last $500, I’d started with $5,000 and my dreams of making money betting on sports were coming to an end.

I’d joined some tipsters I found online who all seemed to have amazing track records yet when I’d follow them they’d do nothing but lose.

But the first thing that I did was read their “Sports Investing Bible” pdf which I found to be full of helpful tips and need to know information if I was ever going to succeed as a profitable sports bettor.

To be honest I was going to skip reading it but I’m glad that I didn’t.

So next I went to the “VIP picks” in the members area and here you’ll find the main ZCode system.

It lists all of the day’s games and give you a star rating based on value.

It also gives you lots of information about each game and tells you what to bet on.

Anything that has 5 star value is a game you may want to consider betting on.

One thing that I gravitated to though was the “Top Automated Systems” section.

These are a bunch of systems created by the Zcode system software and there’s quite a lot of them.

These automated systems give you tips whenever something meets their automated criteria.

The one system that stood out to me was called “Roberts TTV System.”
